The eDNA Symposium: Biodiversity Monitoring, data publication and regulatory framework is part of our commitment to develop eDNA approaches that can contribute to regulatory biodiversity monitoring. We aim to bridge research and regulatory perspectives to strengthen the mutual awareness of progress in the field and required needs for effective regulatory adoption.

Workshop objectives: The workshop is designed to showcase the application of crop wild relatives use case (developed under the Biodiversity Digital Twin project) and its integration into Destination Earth (DestinE). Attendees will also experience a live demonstration of how to access EUMETSAT/Destination Earth climate resources. Furthermore, the workshop will discuss the pivotal role of GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) as a cornerstone research infrastructure underpinning this initiative, with a special emphasis on agrobiodiversity. This includes exploring opportunities to enhance taxon backbones by incorporating sub-species crop categories. The event will wrap up with forward-thinking discussions on using current achievements to pave the way for future projects in agrobiodiversity and climate resilience.

The BioDATA Advanced includes the exchange of student interns. Two 3-month MSc student internships (1 February - 30 April 2024) at the Natural History Museum, Univ. of Oslo, in biodiversity data skills and molecular methods.

The Annual Meeting of the Horizon Europe project BioDT was held in Leiden on 13-14 June 2023 and was hosted by the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, the Netherlands. The aim of the Annual Meeting was to gather together as a consortium to facilitate cross-WP collaboration and to discuss upcoming project activities.
