Globally insects surpass all other animals when it comes to species number. Roughly estimated about 73% of all terrestrial animals are insects. The corresponding figure for Norway is 64 %, which undoubtedly is an underestimate as we assume the Norwegian fauna comprises at least 6 000 species still not reported.
All members of the research group are entomologists and experts on various insect groups. Much of our research address the diversity of insects in Norway, usually in close cooperation with the Norwegian Biodiversity Information Initiative. We are also running projects more focused on the phylogeny and systematics of particular insect groups, including revisions of genera and species.
