Who we are
NCEN is a Nordic network of early-career researchers, with most members currently 2-7 years post-PhD. Our members are based at institutions across the Nordic region:
- University of Oslo, Norway
- Lund University, Sweden
- Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), Norway
- Stockholm University, Sweden
- Swedish Museum of Natural History, Sweden
- University of Copenhagen, Denmark
- University of Helsinki, Finland
- Uppsala University, Sweden
The network is coordinated from the Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo and has a collaborative, non-hierarchical structure. Members are actively involved in shaping the network, leading seminars and workshops, developing collaborative research, and building new connections across countries and disciplines.
What we do
NCEN provides a platform for researchers to connect and collaborate through:
- Digital seminars and discussion sessions
- Methods and training workshops
- Research exchange visits
- Collaborative research and publications
- Grant-writing and networking activities
- Conferences and other scientific meetings
By strengthening connections between Nordic researchers, we hope to build collaborations that extend beyond the lifetime of the network and contribute to a stronger Nordic voice in the global study of convergent evolution.
Equality and inclusion
NCEN is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where researchers have equitable opportunities to participate, collaborate, develop their careers, and contribute to the network. We recognise that diversity of perspectives and experiences strengthens scientific exchange and collaboration.
Our Gender Equality Plan sets out the network's commitments and actions to promote gender equality in leadership, participation, visibility, authorship, career development, and working practices.
