Academic interests

I am a vegetation ecologist working with relationships between vegetation and environment and ecological processes. My main interest is semi-natural grasslands, and I am concerned with effects of management on vegetation and regrowth succession following abandonment. I have also worked with forest ecosystems, and some other open ecosystem types such as coastal meadows, sand dunes, screes and rock outcrops. Population biology is another field of interest and I am currently working with threatened vascular plants in semi-natural grasslands. I am also involved in documentation of the type and description system for variation in Norwegian nature, "Natur i Norge".

Courses taught

BIO4120 - Norwegian nature – typification, description and mapping of natural variation based on "Natur i Norge" (NiN)

Researcher at Norwegian Forest and Landscape Institute, from 1998. Researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research from 2011, part-time position from 2016. Associate Professor at NHM, UiO from 2016.
