Crisia constans

Crisia is a bryozoan genus belonging to the order Cyclostomatida, and the species can be quite difficult to distinguish from each other.

Common characters to use when identifying Crisia species are the number of zooids found in sterile internodes and the location and appearance of the gonozooid (the chamber where the larvae develop) and the ooeciostome (the “exit” where the larvae are released).

Here we see Crisia constans, a species that has characteristic "spherical" gonozooids. This is an Arctic species that does not have many records, so our project will definitely add more information about the distribution of this species with each record!
