If you find a Crisia where some of the zooids have a long, jointed spine, then you have most likely found Crisia aculeata. This species does not have many records in Artskart, but the NorDigBryo project contributes with more data so that we get a better overview of the distribution of the species!
Apart from the characteristic spines, the species has relatively short internodes (five to seven zooids). Internodes are the zooids between each "joint" in the colony. The internodes at the outermost part of the colony may contain more zooids than those further down.
C. aculeata has a distribution from the west coast of France to the western part of Norway, so this is probably not an Arctic species. You can find it in relatively shallow water, but also down to a depth of150 m.
