Coronopora truncata

Coronopora truncata is a species belonging to the order Cyclostomatida. It has a  unique colony shape that makes it look like a crown. Hence the genus name Coronopora. This is the only species in this genus (that we know of), so that makes it quite special!

The zooids grow in radiating rows and between these you will find a porous calcification. The gonozooid/brooding chamber is formed between rows of zooids.

The species is found along large parts of our coast, if not the entire one, and it's depth range goes at least down to 100 meters.
