It's important to identify new invasive species that may appear along our coast, and bryozoans are no exceptions. Luckily, during our NorDigBryo project we will be able to focus a bit on invasive species, and we have already found some interesting stuff!
Not only do we get a better overiew of the distribution of already known invasive species, but we may have found a new one!
This is Pacificincola perforata, a species that is native the northwest Pacific. It has already been registered along the French and Dutch coasts, and now it seems like it has appeared along the Norwegian coast! Porter et al. 2015 included this species as one of their doorstep species, and lo and behold!
The species was collected by our people from Bergen when they did some marina/harbor sampling on their way to Trondheim for our workshop last year!
