Abstract: In this presentation I will first talk about basic principles of post-copulatory sexual selection and cryptic female choice. Then I summarize what do we know about cryptic female choice in humans and how the female reproductive tract could bias fertilization towards human leucocyte antigen (HLA) dissimilar males and genetically compatible gametes in general. Finally, I will discuss about potential molecular and immunological (non-HLA-based) mechanisms of cryptic female choice.
