The question of using DNA as types has been a hot topic recently. It sparked heated debate at last year's International Botanical Congress and was the topic of a symposium of the International Mycological association this spring. Both of these events were attended by some of our NHM researchers and NHM is represented on the special-purpose committee currently working on whether to allow DNA types in the botanical nomenclature code. Join this SNAC meeting to engage with this tricky question and discuss how this decision could affect our work as curators and biodiversity scientists.
