Ongoing and planned research projects

Origin, evolution and dynamics of Earth and the terrestrial planets.
Experimental studies of phase relations and mineral physics of minerals and melts in the mantle. This is a contribution to a multidisiplinary effort, including computational mineralogy and mineral physics, seismology and geodynamic modelling.

Geochemistry of primitive basalts from the NE Atlantic and Arctic ocean.
Characterization of mantle source materials and melting processes, using isotope systematics. The main goal is to gain insights into the relations between the vertical and lateral flow of the Iceland plume and the passively ascending asthenosphere with entrained lithospheric material originating from the continental margins of Greenland, Norway, Spitsbergen and the Barents Sea shelf.
