Lost items found by gardeners of the Botanical Garden over four decades have now turned into a photo exhibition. The large collection of small figurines, toys, pacifiers, bouncing balls and a myriad of other objects have been placed on shelves in the gardeners' building. Over the years, the collection has grown and created its own aesthetic and atmosphere. Each object has its own unknown history. The huge variety and amount of items give us a small glimpse into who has visited the garden for 40 years.

The collection of forgotten items is documented by photo artist Kristin Witberg. For the past 14 years, she has also worked as a gardener and seasonal worker in the Botanical Garden. Her photos of the objects have been shot as things are placed in the room. Nothing has been moved, but documented as they stand separately and in combination with each other. Her project has been to present the little curious things with personality, create new stories and give them new value through the pictures.

Will anyone remember the little rabbit that was lost years ago? Will someone who is now an adult discover a figure they thought was forever gone? 40 years is a long time. Some memories are erased but may reappear through photographs.

The Botanical Garden in Oslo was founded in 1814. The Garden has free entrance and is available for everyone. People's footprints, large and small, are created through seasons and years. We hope the exhibition will create wonder. What is a valuable object and what are the stories behind the things left behind? Individually, the items stand alone – together they create a new universe of imagination, playfulness and nostalgia.

The photo exhibition is displayed at Tøyen Metro Station during fall 2022.
