Korsmo's weed charts for sale in the museum shop
Visit our museum shop and buy a unique vintage weed chart, produced in the 1930s by Norwegian agronomist and botanist Emil Korsmo.
Korsmo's weed charts are an exceptional series of botanical wall charts produced in the 1930s by Norwegian agronomist and botanist Emil Korsmo. The charts were and are internationally known, and were used as important educational tools in many European countries for decades.
The charts were printed in Leipzig, Germany, during the second world war, during which time the printing plates were destroyed during a bomb raid. For this reason it is not possible to print more of the original charts. The company Norsk Hydro funded the printing of the plates in the 30s, and in the 1990s they wished to get rid of the original prints they still had in storage. Luckily, a small group of employees were permitted to keep them, and they were subsequently stored in a barn for several years before moving into the museum shop!
Original prints such as these have for a long time only been available through antique shops as they are rare and unique, but the museum shop at NHM has several copies of all of the 90 charts. See below for a full overview of all.
Each print is 300 NOK. If you buy a series of six charts we will include one for free (1500 NOK for six). The format is 64 x 84 cm in portrait or landscape format.
N.B.! Image captions are in Norwegian and Latin. Species names on charts are in German, English, French and Norwegian. Some of the scientific names have changed since Korsmo produced the wall charts.
