The Geo Laboratory at the Natural History Museum (NHM-UiO) is equipped with two diffractometers used for qualitative identification of minerals in rocks and crystal structure analysis. We can analyze powder samples and single crystals. Preparation labs are available for various sample pretreatments.

The Geo Laboratory at the Natural History Museum (NHM-UiO) is equipped with a Hitachi S–3000N Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), installed in 2022, which is suitable for high-resolution imaging of geological materials (minerals, microfossils) and semi-quantitative X-ray microanalysis of both conductive and non-conductive specimens.
