Vision and main goals
Through research of high international standard, GEco will be a driving force for geo-ecological analyses and modelling, of service to society. Important shared GEco values are: a sense of curiosity, engagement, openness and willingness to share knowledge and data.
GEco focuses on integrative research, with respect to methods and approaches, research fields and groups of organisms, in search for insights beyond those that can be achieved by studies with more limited scope. GEco intends to:
- contribute to the scientific development of understanding of the general processes and mechanisms behind observable patterns of variation in nature
- develop systems for describing patterns of variation in nature and the structuring processes that give rise to these patterns at the relevant spatial and temporal scales
- facilitate practical use of research results and ecological understanding to the wider benefit of society, via direct collaboration with agencies working with nature management and conservation
