Abstract
Galten, Leif. 2003. Nye funn av finnmarksstarr Carex laxa i Engerdal. Blyttia 61: 214-217. New findings of Carex laxa in Engerdal municipality, SE Norway.
Until 2003, nine known localities have been known for the
Norwegian Red List species Carex laxa in southern Norway, and five of
them lie in the surroundings of Lake Femunden, three of them within
Engerdal municipality (figure 1). Volden (1977) have surveyed the Femunden
localities 1-4. The present status of Carex laxa at Hola within Tolga
municipality and at Tufsinga within Os municipality is not known. At the two
older localities in Engerdal at the riverside of Sorka east of Lake
Femunden (Wischmann 1975) and at the edge of the river Sømåa west
of Lake Femunden (Volden 1977) recent attempts to locate it have been
unsuccessful.
In 2002 Carex laxa was found at the shore of the little lake
Vurrusjøen at Drevsjø and rediscovered at the same site in 2003.
In 2003 Carex laxa was discovered at three new localities within
Engerdal municipality, - at Jyltingmarka, a water-rich woodland east of Lake
Femunden and south of the Gutulia National Park. (6-8, figure 1). Locality 8
comprises nine separate habitats. Including the habitats at localities 6 and 7
this gives a total of eleven new habitats for the species. The species most
commonly grows in intermediate fens in carpets or in hummocks on muddy
bottoms which are inundated with melt-water in the spring.
