Lichen Key Archive

The goal of this website is to encourage and promote the writing of internet-available lichen identification keys by providing an archive of (hopefully) all available fixed* lichen keys. However, no key will be archived here without full permission of the author or any other copyright holder.

Note: Tentative or quoted names that have not been formally published but are used in key(s) on this site, should not be considered to be published by their inclusion here.

'Fixed' key means that the key is not altered or compiled for special purposes from user input; rather, the key was written in a fashion that is static for all users.

Current Keys:

The date is given as Year.Month.Day (as available).

Level codes are 4 parted: Completeness / Chemistry / Lenses / Terminology.

A button linking to the key or author's home page is included so that users may check for more recent keys than are deposited in the archive. However, keys sent to the archive should generally be posted within a few days (not much more than 2 weeks if the archive curator is on vacation) and authors are welcome to deposit updates as frequently as they wish. Home pages may move or disappear, so the links here are not guaranteed to be active. Also, some keys may reside only in the archive and thus may not have a link. Buttons outlined in your browser's link colors are for authors who have stated that they plan very frequent updates.
